If the enquiry connects the Gold Coast and northern NSW, say where the property, event or proceedings are located. A nearby office across the border may be convenient, but the lawyer needs to identify the applicable jurisdiction and confirm the work it accepts. Keep the location stated on your documents in the enquiry outline. The directory's office-state filter describes an office; it does not determine which laws apply to your matter.
Compare travel and attendance explicitly
For work away from the office's base, ask whether travel or another practitioner would be required. A phone consultation may be practical for initial advice while a later event needs a different arrangement. Clarify who attends, how preparation is shared and what additional costs are proposed. This is particularly useful when comparing a regional office with a metropolitan practice, because the same service label does not show the full delivery plan.
Choose the right checking and assistance routes
Use Queensland Law Society's solicitor register as an official starting point for checking a solicitor, and contact Legal Aid Queensland about its services where assistance may be needed. Each organisation has its own role. A registration search is separate from an application for help, and neither is an endorsement of the directory's featured order. Ask the office to explain any provider classification that does not match the service you expected.
